Cassie's Story

This is Cassie's story: I had to borrow a picture from Jenny. I am not sure how old Cassie is now. When she was born her mother had no milk. I assume fescue poisioning.
We had to call the vet out and he set her up with her first meal. Cassie is a big mare. She was out of my sire VH Pasqunalejuvu. DJ this is his last foal. DJ is a Black arab standing 16 hands. The mare was Pokey (Pochonitis)he was a spotted saddlebred. Pokey was a wonderful mare, mother, baby sitter, She has since passed from heaves. At the time heaves was not and I am sure is still not curable. So I gave her to a friend for a pasture horse. Now back to Cassie.
What brings her to mind is she had a foal this spring. This is her second foal and as soon as I get pictuers I will post them too.
Cassie was a spring foal, I did imprint training on her from the moment she was born. My daughter brought Lacey (my granddaughter) to see her. The first thing out of her mouth was Cassie. So there you have it. I understand there is a dragon with spots on a carton named Cassie. As she grew she was into everything. From the first day I came home to find her outside the stall her and her mother were in. Things just kept happening. Cassie would get out and go 1/2 mile down the road to visit the neighbors. They would just walk her home as she loved people and followed us everywhere. She would stand back and wait for Lacey to feed her and tell her to step up and eat. She was a piece of cake to teach to get in a trailer. I did round pen training and had started her ground training I could not even think of getting on her as she was so tall.
Cassie was the first to come when she saw Lacey. Almost every warm day you could find that horse standing in the water tank kicking and splashing.
Cassie grew so tall I knew I would never be able to get on her so I made the dececion to sell her.
I worked with Jenny at ADT, she had horses but fell in love with her. She brought her husband up to look and her and that is how she came to live with Jenny. Within a week Jenny came up to see Cassie. Cassie was laying down in the pasture with the other horses.
It was a sunny warm day. Jenny walked up to her while Cassie was laying down and climed on her back. Cassie got up and walked around the pasture with Jenny on her no kick, buck, run, or halter. I believe Jenny was on her for about 10-15 minutes. When she finally took her home. Cassie was still curious. One time Jenny looked out in the pasture and there she was carrying around a chain saw. At least Cassie could not start it. Jenny sold her after she had a foal. She did not think she was in foal when she sold her. So this spring Cassie did have a horse colt. The people gave her back to Jenny to raise. We hope Cassie remains happy and a good trail horse. We are very excited for Jenny and the colt. We will keep you posted on his progress.
