HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!!!

Thanksgiving has so many different meanings and tradition for every family. While I was growing up it was a gathering of family, getting out of school. raking fall leaves and even burning them in town. As i grew into my teenage years and started sharing my time with boy friends and their families it became more of tasting the different food dishes so many had taken the time to make each filled with love in their own tradition. When I had my kids it was making sure both sides of the family got to see the kids growing up. So, in that tradition we ran ourselves ragged trying to do what was right. After all good Christians would never insult ones family by not trying to come. There were times that I was so sick that I could not attend. There was not a soul that condemned me or punished me for it. My husband would gather up the kids and take them for the dinners. The families always fixed me a plate and sent it home for when I felt better. I spent lots of time being bed ridden. Now i have found it may have been diabetes all along. Taking medications helps keep up for the most part.
My favorite thing about Thanksgiving was my husbands sister---Lisa's pumpkin roll. Now if you have never made one you truly can not understand how hard it is to do. Let alone make it taste good.
So this year I have hit every store and bakery in town to find one. I found one this morning. Not as tasty as hers but it brings back the good memories of family, food and all the love that goes with it.
The holidays can be so stressful getting everything ready. I will be cooking the dinner. Ham, Turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, etc. oh and I might have some pumpkin roll to share. I will load all the goodies up and take it up to my moms as I have foe the past few years. Mom is not getting around to well these days. Dad has the patience of a Saint with her.
I do hope all of my friends and family will have a good time and make good memories for years to come.
As I age we have tried to have at least one elder friend come to out gathering.
My time is limited as I do have to work all the holidays.
The door is always open and there is always plenty of food.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
